Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
